XGEN performs with 24/7 demand
In one of its most demanding tests to date, Kabco's XGEN power module was retrofitted into an old unit and used throughout a construction contract alongside a railway line.
The welfare unit was used constantly, day and night, for a in Winter and had a varied foot fall including construction teams, management and security guards for mess room, kitchen, toilet and drying facilities.
The success of the trial was determined by a mixture of qualitative and quantitative data. Operators feedback described the unit as "easy to use, better than standard units" and the benefits to operator comfort were best illustrated by the comment, "to be honest, even when we did hear the generator running, it wasn't loud anyway."
The integrated service control panel stated that out of a potential 168 hours a week, the generator only ran for an average of 35 hours - only 20.8% of the time, coupled with 70 hours running time of the heating - 41.7% of the overall time.
John Berry of Brandfly Statistics stated "when we compared the results of this trial to feedback from standard units of the same type, there was a notable lean towards the XGEN model" on the low running times he commented "what can I say? The results speak for themselves, not to mention the 50% saving in fuel."
"With the addition of solar panels, it is anticipated that the unit would have seen a further reduction in generator running times by a further 15 - 20%"
